Sugar Land Pet Hospital Team

Dr. Doug Hendrix, DVM

Dr. Doug R Hendrix was born and raised in Alief, Texas and worked for Dr. L.O. Harrell throughout his high school and college career.  Dr. Hendrix graduated from Texas A&M University in 1997 and purchased Sugar Land Pet Hospital in 1999, from the Harrell family. Dr. Hendrix provides a variety of services for small animals, including internal medicine and surgery. At home Dr. Hendrix and his wife Bridget have two beautiful girls, Emily and Katie, who enjoy dancing, sports, and spending time with their spunky Boston terrier, named Cindy Lou Who. In his spare time, Dr. Hendrix loves woodworking, fishing, and following Aggie Football-WHOOP!

Dr. David Brust, DVM

Dr. David M Brust, isn’t a native Texan, but he got here as soon as possible.  In 2006 he joined the clinic to meet the growing needs of our hospital.  Dr. Brust graduated from Texas A&M University in 1984 and provides a variety of services for small animals and exotics. Dr. Brust is known for the research and care of Sugar Gliders; he is the President of The Association of Sugar Glider Veterinarians and the author of several published articles, including the book Sugar Gliders: A Complete Veterinary Care Guide. Dr. Brust and his wife Ann have 3 grown sons, a daughter, and a very active grandson. Dr. Brust loves hunting, volunteering at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo every year, and participating with his Barbeque Cook Off team.

Dr. Erin C. Floyd, DVM

Dr. Erin C Floyd grew up in Sugar Land, Texas and has been a part of the Sugar Land Pet Hospital family for the past 11 years. She started out as a kennel assistant in 2004, and over the next several years worked her worked her way up to veterinary assistant. Dr. Floyd graduated from Kempner High School in 2006, and graduated from Texas A&M with her Bachelor of Science degree in 2009. She went on to attend veterinary school at Texas A&M, and graduated from the Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine in May 2013. Dr. Floyd rejoined the SLPH family as an associate veterinarian in June 2013. She has a particular interest in feline medicine, neurology, and endocrinology. Dr. Floyd and her newlywed husband live in Richmond, TX with their three dogs and four cats. She enjoys painting, reading, and yoga. Dr. Floyd attributes the fulfillment of her lifelong dream of becoming a veterinarian to the dedicated mentorship and guidance provided by Dr. Doug Hendrix, and is passionate about providing similar mentorship opportunities to students interested in veterinary medicine.


Jackie, CVA II

Jackie has worked for Sugar Land Pet Hospital since 1988. She has received her CVA II certificate and is working towards her CVAIII. She has a special interest in canine and feline dentistry. Outside of the hospital she loves spending time with friends, family, raising 2 children, and spending time at the barn raising livestock with her fiancé, Reese. Her pets are Tink the Chihuahua, Seth a pug mix and Ben the barn cat.

Rebecca, LVT

Rebecca began working at Sugar Land Pet Hospital in 2004. She always knew she wanted to work with animals; she completed Associates of applied science in 2009 from Lone Star College and passed the national and state boards to be an RVT.  In 2014 she completed her Bachelor of Applied Science in Veterinary Technology from St. Petersburg College Florida. In her spare time she enjoys traveling, water sports, spending time with husband and their furry family. Their pets include Bella, Scooter, Harper Cakes, and Norberta the Bearded Dragon.

Kimberly, LVT

Kimberly became a Veterinary Technician in 1998 and has been working at Sugar Land Pet Hospital since 2006.  She enjoys assisting our doctors in surgery but her true passion is studying the behavior of animals. Kimberly feels this is the best way to learn their language and to understand what animals are trying to tell us. She applies this to our patients in the hospital to help make interactions with them less stressful.On weekends, she enjoys riding horses with her daughter, snuggling up to watch movies with my family and reading almost anything she can get her hands on! Pets include Hannah a terrier mix, Slew a Quarter Horse, Chase a Thoroughbred, Petunia the Potbelly Pig and Dora the farm cat.  

Kristy, LVT

Kristy has been working in the veterinary field since she was 16. She received her Associate of Applied Science in Veterinary Technology from Tomball College in 2003 and joined our team in 2011. She has a special interest in ultrasound technology and dentistry. Kristy enjoys spending time with her son Travis and fiancé Blake and her soon to be stepson Westin. She loves her furry feline companions Leo and Bonnie.  

Cathy, CVA II

Cathy is the proud mother of three, Nicholas, Mara and Daniel.  Her family is originally from Boston but moved to Texas in 2004.  She has worked for SLPH since 2006.  Cathy grew up dreaming of the opportunity to work with animals, so she has found her dream job.  Her furry family includes Teddy, Sam, Bella and Snow.

Joline, CVA I

We welcomed Joline to our team in 2009 as one of our smiling faces upfront. Her passion for veterinary medicine allowed her to study and complete the CVAI and she hopes to soon complete the CVAII. Joline and her husband Pablo enjoy car shows, weekends by the pool, and spending time with their friends and furry family. Pets are Blue the boxer and Mandi the cat.

Amber, CVA I

She was born and raised in Lubbock, Texas and moved here when she was 16. She is married to her high school sweetheart Samier. Amber loves to read, spend free time with her husband and their 2 dogs Kyro and Emery. She has worked here for 6 years and absolutely loves animals but has a real soft spot for the Chihuahuas. Amber has worked for Sugar Land Pet Hospital since 2010.



Ashley was born and raised in Sugar Land. Although The Land of Sugar may be her zip code, she also calls Arizona and New Mexico home. She has worked at Sugar Land Pet Hospital since 2008. Ashley is an avid reader; she loves the fine arts, outdoor activities and travel. She has two wonderful Great Danes, Alice and Marley, who love to hang out on the couch leaving little space for Ashley but she wouldn’t change it for the world.


Danielle is the mother of two, Hayli and Chance. She is active in two PTA’s, a Parent Group for Dyslexics, Pearland Little League and Select Baseball. She loves spending time with great friends and family. Danielle grew up in a small town in Southern Illinois and moved to Texas in 2006 after finishing her Bachelor degree in Zoology at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. Shortly after moving to Texas she got a job as a Vet Tech and continues to enjoy working with animals. Her family pets include a dachshund named Bella Boo, two Staffy mixes named Hank and Wrigley.


Candice was born and raised in Sugar Land, Texas. Her family has been coming to SLPH since she was five years old. She told Dr. Hendrix as a child that she wanted to be a veterinarian just like him. In 2012 after high school graduation, she began working for Dr. Hendrix as a receptionist and has loved every minute of it! Outside of work she loves spending time with friends and family, music, singing, dancing and watching Aggie Football. She is a huge animal lover but Beagles hold a special place in her heart. Her pets include a cat named Duchess and two beagles Tootie and Peaches.

Jackie D

Jackie D has been employed at Sugar Land Pet Hospital since 2014. She is currently enrolled at Houston Baptist University and will graduate December 2018 with her BS of Teacher Certification in Mathematical studies. Jackie one day hopes to become a high school Math Teacher. She enjoys playing and watching sports, loves to read and watch movies. She is big fan of puppies and recently adopted her first fur baby. Yue is a white German Sherpherd and is extremely adorable.


Troy was born in Alexandria, Louisiana (Geaux Tigers!!). She moved to Texas as a child and considers Texas her home. Troy’s family has always had a passion for animals that lead to her growing up with cats but she has always had a special love for dogs. Her fur babies include Maejor a bichon poodle mix, Kovu the Chihuahua and Peyton a Staffordshire terrier.

Pharmacy Technicians


She grew up in Northern Michigan, playing sports and riding horses. She went to college at the University of Minnesota for Animal Science and Equine Science. She moved to Houston in December of 2013 for work at the HSPCA and then found her way here to SLPH in May of 2014 as a technician assistant. She has currently taken the position of data entry, filling medications, and assisting technicians and doctors when needed. Her pets include Lucien, Rusty and Ziggy.


Shareece enjoys learning all she can about veterinary medicine so she can educate her friends, family and clients on how to better take care of their pets. On her off days she enjoys hanging out with friends, watching Netflix, trying new food dishes and snuggling with her furry friend Dash. Shareece’s four legged babies include Dash a beagle mix, and her two red ear sliders, Kenny and Kayla.

Technician Assistants


Katelynn began working for SLPH in 2012 while attending her junior year at Kempner High School. Katelynn is currently a student at WCJC working on her general studies. She enjoys spending time with her friends and family. She enjoys traveling, being outdoors, and going to the beach. Her pets include Honey, a chocolate lab and Fiasco the kitty cat.


Cynthia is a recent graduate of Texas A&M and is hoping to get into Vet school. In the meantime she decided to work and gain experience here at SLPH. She is a native Houstonian but grew up here in Sugar Land. She enjoys reading, knitting and general craft activities. Cynthia’s fur baby is a Beagle named Brownie


Julia was born and raised in Houston, Texas and truly loves living here. Julia’s love of all animals brought her to SLPH. In her spear time she enjoys volunteering at the Wildlife Center of Texas. Julia also has a love for Karate and has been involved in it since the age of 5. She has worked very hard over the years and earned her way up to a black belt. When Julia has down time she enjoys listening to the oldies and eating Pho soup.
